"Average" Americans love Palin more than ever
To reassure nervous voters, it is true that all Sarah Palin had to do last night was stroll onto the stage and string together a few coherent sentences. And she did this and more. Personally, every time she gave a non-answer and started her supposedly "folksy" talk, I threw my hands up in disgust. However, I realize that this BS appeals to a large number of Americans and this fact scares the crap out of me. David Brooks sums it up here:
On Thursday night, Palin took her inexperience and made a mansion out of it. From her first “Nice to meet you. May I call you Joe?” she made it abundantly, unstoppably and relentlessly clear that she was not of Washington, did not admire Washington and knew little about Washington. She ran not only against Washington, but the whole East Coast, just to be safe.
I can only hope that Palin didn't sway any undecided voters, but rather just reassured those McCain supporters who were questioning her suitablity as the Republican VP candidate.
I must say that had expectations for Palin's performance not been so ridiculously low, Joe Biden would be the clear winner of this debate. He not only actually answered the questions posed to him (imagine that), he also did so in a concise, well-informed manner. Someone with his intelligence and obvious deep understanding of the issues is exactly who this average American would like to see as the second-in-command of our country.

This is so cool. In two days, there have been two posts not made by the big bald guy. That is awesomeness. And they both had links and quotes, holy snotballs.
I suspect David Brooks had this article written before the debate. He, and all the other conservative tire swingers, were sitting on pins and needles hoping for this outcome. It is very telling that this was the best case scenario. If you watch this thing with a clear head, it was pretty messy display.
I still believe that she won the instantaneous punditry view but lost the undecided vote. The morning talk shows have been running with the Biden tear jerker and all the Palin folksy talk. The contrast is extremely telling. I also think that her non answers are getting played up as well.
The last point is that this gets one media cycle only. All is did was lessen the bleeding but in no way did it turn the tide. It will get more stinky with time.
I have faith, well sort of, not in the way Bill Maher makes movies about.
CE & Nathaniel (aka Seth) are my two kids. I couldn't have done better! (And check out grandaughter Isa's drawings.) Dad
I think that we should rename this blog "A bald dude and two Carrie's"
"A bald dude and two Carries." I love it!
